Science experiments in 4th class -Hygiene when handling food

October 20, 2017 · No Comments

The pupils in 4th class have really enjoyed some recent science experiments.

They have examined how similar slices of bread will decay at different speeds depending on the level of hygiene maintained by the person handling the bread. The “controlled” sample was handled only with clean plastic gloves, the “clean” sample was handled only with washed hands while the last sample was handled multiple times by the various pupils without washing their hands. As the days passed, the pupils observed the 3 samples and how they altered in relation to each other. The pupils in 4th class became experts at explaining what they observed.

This simple experiment clearly demonstrated how important it is for all of us to wash our hands before handling any food.
